ABOUT THE INN
For more than a century, The Simpson House Inn has been a quiet presence in Santa Barbara’s Upper East, offering a sense of place that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
Originally built in 1874 by Robert & Julia Simpson, the Simpson House estate remains one of the most distinctive historic boutique hotels in Santa Barbara. Today the restored Victorian property welcomes travelers seeking the intimacy of a traditional bed and breakfast alongside the comfort, privacy, and service expected of a luxury hotel.
Over the years, this commitment to exceptional hospitality earned national recognition, including AAA’s prestigious Five Diamond rating. For a time, The Simpson House Inn was the only bed and breakfast in North America to hold this distinction. Today, that legacy continues through a renewed focus on thoughtful design, personalized service, and elevated guest experiences.
Surrounded by gardens and shaded verandas, the property feels more like a private residence than a traditional hotel. Guests are invited to slow down, settle in, and experience the rhythm of the house as generations have before them.
At its heart, The Simpson House is about connection. It is a place for unhurried mornings, shared moments, and meaningful stays, grounded in warmth, authenticity, and gracious hospitality.
